History buffs can explore the Big Timbers Museum, which showcases local history and artifacts from the Santa Fe Trail, or visit Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site, a reconstructed 1840s trading post about an hour from Lamar. Golfers can tee off at the Spreading Antlers Golf Course, while families can relax at Willow Creek Park, which features walking paths, picnic areas, and a swimming pool. Quirky attractions like the Petrified Wood Gas Station offer great photo opportunities, and the Lamar Theater provides entertainment with first-run movies in a historic setting. Rodeo fans can check out events hosted by Lamar Community College, while shoppers can hunt for treasures at local antique and thrift stores.
