Job Description
Physician (Family Practice) performs in accordance with policies and guidelines established by supervisor. Exercises independent judgment with full responsibility for professional diagnosis, treatment, referral and disposition of patients. Serves as Family Practice Physician. Scope of services include, but are not limited to, examination, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of medical, surgical, obstetric, gynecological, and orthopedic care. Takes ownership, responsibility for care of assigned panel of patients. Provides first contact, continuous, comprehensive primary care for infants, children, youth, and adults according to current standards of care, the patient centered medical home model of care, and Army policy and relevant regulations. Leads a multi-disciplinary team of individuals who collectively take responsibility for the ongoing care of patients. Coordinates and/or integrates care across all elements of the healthcare system (e.g., subspecialty care, hospitals, home health agencies, nursing homes) and the patient's community (e.g., family, public and private community). Completes required records pertaining to all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations. Teaches and provides consultation to other health care providers as assigned. Participates in Continuing Medical Education (CME) and quality assurance activities as assigned. PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. Conditions of Employment - Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. - A Personnel Security Investigation is required. - This position may have a specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis. - Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. - This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. - A pre-placement medical examination is required. - Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. - Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. - Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
