Job Description
- Serves as a Physician (Psychiatry) in a Medical Treatment Facility, responsible for providing examinations, diagnoses, treatment of diseases affecting mental health. - Serves as a recognized technical authority in the delivery of Psychiatric medical care to a wide demographic and large variety of psychiatric patient presentations, symptoms, conditions, and complexities. - Provides appropriate referrals to other medical and mental health care providers in and outside of MTF. - Conducts thorough biopsychosocial evaluations of presenting patients, including but not limited to integration of laboratory, radiological, EKG, psychological testing, and clinical findings. - Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment. - Develops treatment and rehabilitation plans and provides appropriate therapeutic treatment services. - Research activities may involve the development, testing or evaluation of innovative therapies. - Participates in Quality Assurance (QA) functions, performance improvement programs, risk management programs, and peer review programs Conditions of Employment: - This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. - Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. - Selectees may be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. - This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. - A pre-placement medical examination may be required. - Immunization screening may be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. - May be required to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. - Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. - Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia,the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States
