Job Description
- Conduct physical examinations of infants and children determining need for X-ray examinations and/or clinical laboratory tests. Interpret examination findings and test results. - Prescribe and administer appropriate treatment for the patients needs and conditions, provide consultation, perform emergency treatment in cases of serious injury or illness, and recommend arrangements for hospitalization and surgery. - Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, difficulty of assignments, and the capabilities of employees. - Develop performance plans and evaluate work performance of subordinate employees. Effect minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommending other action in more serious cases. - Interview candidates for subordinate positions and recommend hiring, promotion, or reassignments actions. - Answer telephonic and other remote media inquiries from patients and provide appropriate advice and instructions. May perform telephonic after-hours call shared with other providers. - Complete medical record documentation with accuracy, timeliness, and thoroughness. - Participate in clinic and clinical staff meetings, Continuing Medical Education (CME) conferences and Primary Care Clinic Quality Improvement through periodic chart and procedure audits. PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED. Conditions of Employment - Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. - This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring b - One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement. - Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. - This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. - A pre-placement medical examination is required. - Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. - Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. - Moderate to heavy lifting up to 25 pounds is required. - A Personnel Security Investigation is required. - Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. - May be required to obtain and maintain certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). - This position may require the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing
