Job Description

The Pediatric Nephrology Service provides expert care for young patients, ranging from infants to teens, with kidney or urinary tract conditions that are admitted to the children’s hospital.  The Nurse Practitioner on this service will work closely with an attending Pediatric Nephrologist to provide care for patients with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease including those requiring dialysis, kidney transplant recipients, and other patients with diseases of the kidney.

80% position - 8 hr shift - Days, Evenings, Rotating, Weekends, Variable & Holidays


Required Qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of pediatric inpatient NP experience
  • Demonstrated competence working on interdisciplinary teams
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialization
License/Certifications
  • California Driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
  • Current national certification from an accepted certifying agency and provide by first day of work

  • Current and active RN and NP and Furnishing license in California.
  • Complete a BRN recognized graduate master’s degree program as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Obtain an active and/or transferable DEA license to California and provide evidence by 90th day of clinical practice. (It is the responsibility of the employee to transfer their DEA license to their new place of employment if from out of state, via online DEA portal and provide evidence of transfer).
  • Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through credentialing by first clinical day.  CCS enrollment as appropriate for pediatric environments.
  • Current AHA BLS.
  • State regulation requires that you have a supervising physician to practice.

In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
